If I say United States of America most people think about: Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Pancakes.
Do you know those cute fatty crepes with a delicious look?
Well, I knew pancakes before coming in USA. Years ago, a friend of mine used to prepared them every Sunday morning for breakfast and I was going over often to taste them. They were so delightful!
I want to suggest you the recipe for American pancakes for your own happiness, they are so good. You can taste them with Maple Syrup, icing sugar or with fresh fruit.
The most gluttons eat them with chocolate syrup or whipped cream. Personally, I like them simple with maple syrup and icing sugar but is a matter of taste.
For: 2 people
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Ingredients for 9/10 Pancakes:
1 egg (1 uovo)
¾ cup of milk (177.44 ml di latte)
2 tablespoons of butter or margarine (2 cucchiai di burro o margarina)
1 cup of flour (120gr di farina)
1 tablespoon of sugar (1 cucchiaio di zucchero)
1 teaspoon of baking powder (1 cucchiaio di lievito in polvere)
½ teaspoon of salt (½ cucchiaino di sale)
I found this recipe on food.com. To make it easier for you I put also grams as unit of measure. I’m getting used to Cups, that are not tea cups but the English unit of measure.
Let’s start our recipe by melting some butter on a slow fire then let it cool down.
Mix together all the dry ingredients like: flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
Whip the egg and add milk and melted butter. Obviously if you use whole milk and butter will make pancakes tastier, but you can always use low fat milk and oil instead of butter, if necessary.
Add wet ingredients into the dry ingredients bowl and mix them together. It doesn’t matter if the dough is not perfect. Some lumps are ok, the important is that there isn’t any dry flour left on the bottom of the bowl.
Now, warm up the grease nonstick pan on a slow-medium fire for circa five minutes.
To know if the pan is warm enough add a drop of dough and if it sizzles on the sides means that is ready to cook.
Use a small ladle to provide the same quantity of dough in the pan, in that way you’ll have pancakes with the same shape. Use the other side of the ladle to spread the dough in a circular shape.
Let the pancakes cook for three minutes until you see bubbles on the top of the dough. Carefully flip the pancakes upside down and cook until get gold.
Now you can strew your pancakes with fresh berries, banana slices, strawberries or chocolate chips. Enjoy it 😉
