“We should all go to the zoo…” was a rhyme from a famous Italian song: Vengo anch’io. No tu no of Enzo Jannacci. We didi t for real.
Near to our place there is the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere and we thought to have a Sunday pic-nic. Days are beautiful, a bit windy but the temperature is still like in summer. Kids were very excited.
Nashville Zoo is very popular e there aren’t just couples with kids. There are three big areas: Zoo Central, Jungle Loop and Savannah Loop.
I like there because you can go for long walks (kids in the stroller) in the middle of the nature discovering new animals. Inside the zoo there are different areas where you can cuddle puppies or just brush the fur of the animals, just like my daughter did.
For Adelaide is been a unique experience. Learn how to respect and take care of animals is important for us and we want her to understand this.
I have to say that I was excited as well when I saw for the first time the flamingos. I fell in love with this birds <3
Who projected the zoo should have had children or nephews, because he/she knew that after a while the kids would have been tired to walk. You can rent mono or bi stroller for all the time you’re at the zoo.
The Jungle Gym is a game area for kids and ok also for the little ones like Ginevra. We didn’t miss out the carousel ride and the train 😉
In Savannah Loop there is a Zip Lane, a kind of sky lift, where at the top, you can admire the elephants, giraffes and much more.
Next to the Zip Lane there is the Grassmere Historic Home built in 1810 is the fulcrum of the old farm. You can also visite it (we did it). This house is still furnished with old forniture, there is a huge books collection and family portrait. You can also discover the agricoltural fields, the antique backyard and the cemetery where are buried some family members.
Since Halloween is coming, the zoo is getting orange with Boo at the Zoo. Kids are welcomed to wear their costumes during these 10 special nights.
After two hours spent running behind the kids (we were tired) we deserved a sweet fritter. Just the time to eat it and then start again with the adventure. With two kids we never stop!
